11 Randoms

11 RandomsI was tagged by Marlene of Mission To A(nother) Marathon and not because we are friends but because I happened to be a person who was one of the first 11 to comment on a blog post of hers.  So I’m not sure if I’m flattered that she chose me, which in reality she didn’t actually choose me so I’m not flattered but I’m doing it anyway.

There are strict rules to this little game of tag and I had to read them three times to make sure I was following them correctly as I don’t want to be thrown in Blogger Purgatory (which would mean having to go back to Google’s Blogger instead of using WordPress.)

Here are the rules:

1. Post these rules
2. You must post 11 random things about yourself
3. Answer the questions set for you in their post
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
5. Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them
6. No stuff in the tagging section about you are tagged if you are reading this. You legitimately have to tag 11 people!
I think we should add 5 more to make it an even 11…

11 Random Things About Me

  1. I was cut from the high school baseball team my freshman year and unfortunately that is where the story ends.  No Michael Jordan success story here.
  2. In day camp as a kid we went to Yankee Stadium.  I walked into a pole and split my head open and got stitches.  This further inflated my hatred for the Yankees that continues to this day.  I can still see the scar and feel the dent in my skull……F U Yankees!
  3. I want to shave my head completely bald.  I’m already getting that hole in the back of my head but Karen won’t let me because she likes my hair.
  4. I pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity my first semester freshman year and nearly failed out of school.
  5. I graduated from Iona College with my MBA and a GPA of 3.9X and still hold onto the notion that I did not get an A in that class because I went to North Carolina to visit my mother the week before the exam I got an A- on.
  6. I am a competitor and love competition.  I watched a double dutch competition once on ESPN and was yelling at the TV screen and rooting.  These kids were jumping rope for crying out loud.
  7. I hate it when I’m speaking to somebody and during the conversation that person says: ‘Well THEY say that you should……’  Who The F is they and what makes them the authority on this topic?  Drives me nuts!
  8. I do not believe that parents are meant to be ‘friends’ with their kids but instead they are there to raise responsible adults.  If you don’t want to do this then I would suggest that you don’t have children until you are ready to do that.
  9. I broke both of my thumbs as a kid playing sports.  One was playing football and the other was playing baseball.
  10. I have been told I should have been an attorney because I love to ‘argue.’  I call it playing Devil’s Advocate and try to get people to think.  See #7.
  11. My favorite number is 12 and I’m bummed that we stop at 11.

this is fun but now i’ll have to put my thinking cap on and i don’t know where it is.
i might have laughed had i seen you walk into a pole, then once i saw the blood i would have stopped laughing and passed out.
i can understand yelling at the double dutch competitors. i feel the same when i watch the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest every fourth of July.
    great stuff! thanks for sharing!

    • CTER says:

Trust me if it wasn’t me I would have probably fallen down laughing at the person who walked into the pole. F’ng Yankees!

And you’ve got some great new content for the new look blog.

  2. so, im not flattered either since you only picked me out of ease of notifying me.

Jeeeeeeeeez you two really are bitter about this. Would it help if I tell you that you are one of my top eleven favourites even if I didn’t choose you for that reason? LOL!

    Thanks for playing.

Really? I had NO idea you were competitive or into sports. ;)

    • CTER says:

Yes that would help. The ego is bruised…..haha!

What gave my competitive side away?

Thanks for picking me this was fun even if there are 98 rules.

  4. Tonia says:

    Fun post.

I also wear only a watch, wedding ring and roadID on a daily basis. In fact, I’ve been know to keep my roadID on when attending formal events, like weddings.

And on a side note, I totally thought of you and your take on parenting the other day. Mackenzie (Doodle) was having a total meltdown at BJ’s. She was two aisles over yelling “Mommy, you’re not my friend anymore!” To which I yelled back, “That’s great Kenzie, because I was never your friend. I’m your mother.” Perhaps not my finest parenting moment with the public yelling and all, but I stood my ground.

RoadID never comes off except for bedtime. I always think about this in the sense of a car accident and if I’m ever in one having it on would be a tremendous help.

As for the kids scenario I think its awesome b/c now your kids know you aren’t afraid to embarass them either.

  5. Jeff Irvin says:

I live in blogging purgatory – that seems like such an accurate statement at blogger.

Shave the head. For aero purposed!

Thank you for not tagging with this one – the rules would be too difficult for my ADD to handle.

Dude it is like ridiculously warm here again today? Was 82* yesterday? WTF is going on?

I just cut a 3 hour bike ride short and am finishing off the last hour on my trainer b/c it was 31* out there and windy as shit. It was so nice out and I thought I’d be in shorts but instead two pairs of pants, 6 or 7 shirts (I stopped counting) and am still cold.

  6. Okay I cant stop laughing at #4! Keg stand much brother!?!

#8 – its seriously out of control! Kids are just not brought up the way it used to be (this makes me feel old) they have NO fear of their parents because they are BFF’s.

Okay let me go try and decipher the instructions….

You were a Sig Ep? I cannot relate you to the frat on our campus haha. Hopefully your chapter was a tad different although, if you almost failed out, I would say you were very similar haha.

I would have come close to failing out with or without the frat.

Managed to make Dean’s List the following 5 straight semesters after that.

We place a lot on emphasis on grades and being a Balanced Man.

    OUCH. Broke both thumbs????

    • CTER says:

Reason #235532 I don’t ever leave meetings and try to head them if I can.
