Today is normally reserved for The Athlete’s Plate but I decided to postpone it by one week to present to you this great idea.
Recently JM over at Caution: Redhead Running posted a day in her life. I commented on it and she said that I should do one as well. Not one to back down from challenges I decided to make Monday the day I took photos of a day of my life. Monday also happened to be the day that I swam 3,500 yards or 2 miles and managed to do it in 1 hour and 5 minutes. This was a breakthrough day in my training and I am now very happy to have captured this day in pictures.
But before we get to the photos I want to thank Beth over at Shut Up and Run for posting about the Fitbloggers Conference. As soon as I was done reading I sent in my application for a partial scholarship and within an hour I had a reply email that I had been awarded the partial scholarship. So I will be going to Boulder, Colorado in June to attend this great event and I couldn’t be happier. There will be photos and videos from the conference for sure.
So without further delay here is my day in pictures:

Breakfast #1 - Ezekial Sesame Bread Toasted, 1/2 banana sliced on top of chocolate peanut butter with 8oz of coffee and 16oz of water

Back Home for Breakfast #2 of Granola, Greek Yogurt, 1/2 sliced banana, blueberries, blackberries, 8oz decaf, 8oz oj, 16oz water

After a morning of sales calls, quotes and lead generation it's lunch time of polenta, tamarind tempeh and sweet potatoes.

After an afternoon of follow-up calls, putting out fires it's time to go home and this is the temp. Windows are rolled down as I drive down Hwy 183

Stopped at grocery store to pick up Ezekiel English Muffins for dinner and walked out with more than that. Typical.

Dinner of a quinoa burger with arugula and tomato on Ezekiel English Muffin. Side of roasted sweet potato fries and a spinach/black bean salad with Karen at the dinner table.

Up, run or bike.
Coffee and breakfast.
Train to work.
Work, blog, socialize.
Train home.
Dinner with the family.
Read, TV, family time.
Early to bed.
I’d say 75-80% of my days are like this.

Yay!!! Love it!!! Also, extremely jealous of your temps! I was hoping you’d do a whole day of your eats too so thanks for that. I can’t believe you get up so early to start your day! That is even earlier than I imagined.
P.S. Is it weird that I had a dream last night and you were there trying to teach me to swim although looking at your picture the person in my dream didn’t really look like you but it was you because I kept calling you the Athlete’s Plate?!!? LOL! Also, for the record, you weren’t a very good swim teacher. You need to work on that. :) LOL! Happy St. Patty’s Day!

LOL….weird….NO WAY why would that be weird. I am going to go get my swimming teaching certificate especially now that I can swim 2 miles straight.
I wanted to capture a day in photos this week too but have not gotten around to that yet – thanks for teh reminder!
So fun to see your day in photos… and it looks like it was a great day! Congrats on the awesome 2 mile swim!!

I get up at 3am actually and remembered that I wanted to do the day in pictures. That was a little late. I get up at 3am and eat that first breakfast then fall back asleep for about an hour. In that hour my body is processing my carbs and caffeine and getting me ready to fire out of the gates when the training starts.
You get up at 3 am?!?!? Every day? I used to get up that early for long runs on Saturday when I lived in Florida but that was it. 3 am… wow… and I thought my mind was blown at 3:40!
Morgan recently posted..3 Things Thursday
I do but for very rational reasons. It takes about 45-60 minutes for your body to process both carbs and coffee to be ready to fire when you need them. I get up at 3am, have that small breakfast and then fall asleep on the couch for 30-40 minutes and then get up and workout at 5am.
Date/fig/walnut bread? Yum!! Recipe please :-) (also, have been meaning to ask, if you have a great energy bar recipe I’d love it. Getting tired of paying $$ for clif bars!)

Thats a long day my friend. Meals look insane (yummmmmmy) . Fantastic swim !
ohhhhh man. My day does not look like yours [esp not the food]. Oh how I wish it did though.
lol….I am available for hire…..
Jason, those homemade fig bars look really good! are you willing to share the recipe? Congrats on the partial scholarship, that conference looks like it’s going to be awesome!!

The recipes for the fig bars are going into the newsletter this week along with the recipe for the granola crusted fruit I posted on my Facebook page last night.
Perfect! Thanks!
I just have to say–damn you get up early! 4:30 is my limit. Do you not want to take a nap in the afternoon??? Thanks for the peak into your day. Oh, and I relate to the coming home with more than you planned trip to the store–every time I go into Trader Joe’s, it’s far more expensive than I thought it would be!

I honestly don’t feel the need to take a nap midday. That usually only happens on Saturday or Sunday after a grueling training session, otherwise I am good to go. I think it goes to clean healthy eating because when I wasn’t so focused on my nutrition I would go through those swings of needing a nap.
And I actually used to take a nap in my office in NY during lunch. 30 minute power nap and I felt great but I think that was sugar high and low crashes.
what a fun post!
dude, totally coming to live with you for a while-those eats look amazing! I might even give up meat for a bit LOL! Plus, we get up around the same time (except the time diff)!!

I love this! I think you’ve inspired me :) Your food looks amazing…the homemade meals throughout the day is what I’m really aspiring to. Thanks for sharing this.

you get up early. i’m working on that though! i made some pretty bodacious banana oatmeal cookies last night. yum yum. i figured that makes them fairly healthy cookies and i exercised self control (aka didn’t eat all of them last night) :)
anyway. sometimes i think its’ crazy that our lives are sleep-workout-eat-work-eat/workout-sleep repeat. you know? but then again, what else would i do anyway — during the week at least.
