Greg Larsen – Bio

Like many I struggled with an unhealthy lifestyle and as life’s stresses mounted the unhealthier it got.  This was me in 2003at my lowest.  I was successful in losing weight over the course of a year or two, but I never changed.  By 2008 I was putting the pounds back on but I got proactive and active.

In June 2009 I crossed the finish line of the Cache Valley Classic Olympic Distance Triathlon a changed man.  Life was no longer about how it had started, it was about how strong I could finish.  It was about change, growth, challenges, and happiness.  I wanted to live the longest, happiest life possible with my wife and children.  I wanted to keep Tri-ing!

On September 24, 2011 I crossed the finish line of my first Iron distance triathlon at the Redman Triathlon in 11:32:30 which qualified me for the 2012 Halfmax Long Course Championships and a chance to qualify for the 2013 ITU Worlds.  I am now an Ironman and while that goal is checked the goal of crossing that line in Kona, Hawaii is alive and well!

It has been an amazing journey and continues to be with run races, cycling races and triathlons of all distances.  Life is just as stressful as ever between family, work, training, racing, community involvement, coaching baseball & soccer, etc., but this time I don’t need food to comfort me.  I have my family, my health, my friends, and my God for that.  Food is finally what it is meant to be, that which fuels me to Tri Harder.
