Sunday has become the day of the Epic Training Day of the week and this Sunday was no different. For the past two weeks my rides have been on the trainer because of the weather but today (1/30/2011) I got to ride outside.  I apologize to my friends in the North but today was 65 degrees and it was a great day to take the bike outside.  The downside to riding outside today?  The fact that the winds were blowing wildly and always seemed to be into my face.  I would say that approximately 70% of the ride wound up going into the wind and that...

Welcome to the new site for Jason Bahamundi and the Life of An Aspiring Triathlete.  You can see that there have been 'some' changes around here.  In the past two months or so I have truly been chasing my passions.  My passion for cooking and my passion for a healthy lifestyle through training and racing.  I decided to put them together and came up with this site.  I did not do this all on my own.  With a lot of help from Rita Barry at Fitblogger and Blog Genie this dream has become a reality.  It is terrific because the post for today w...

What a great week this past week was.  Training was spot on although one day I had physically crashed (more on that in a bit.)  First group run for Marathon Makeover, Wedding Anniversary and a house showing. =================== Training: What a great training week.  It was last Sunday that I had a 3:00 trainer ride followed by a 30 minute run and both of those were preceeded by a 3200y swim.  Needless to say Sunday was a long tiring day, but I loved it just the same. Problem came on Monday when the body just did not want to perform....

Last night, like any other night, I was contemplating life and the meaning behind it and what I could do to change myself to make the people around me better.  I got to thinking about the Biggest  Loser episode and I quickly sent myself an email titled 'Is There A Competitor In You?'  That was the entire email and when I woke up this morning and saw the BlackBerry flashing I looked at the email and on to the pool I went.I kept thinking about the episode from last night and it dawned on me that I am a competitor.  I compete a...

For any and all of you doing any type of training, whether it is a 5K or an Iron-distance event the hardest part of the training is the mental game.  The mind is usually ready to quit way before the body and thus it becomes a matter of fighting that mindset.  You are struggling up a hill and the mind says quit and walk, but you don't.  You are coughing up a lung because you just swallowed a gallon of water in the pool and the mind says quit but you don't.  The wind is howling and practically blowing you backwards on your bik...

Today was going to be an epic training day and of course there were two one big football game that I had to watch. My training called for a full SBR today.  3400y of swimming, 3 hours on the bike and a 30 minute run.  This was going to be the mother of all training.  Added all up we were looking at about 5 hours of training today and this is on the heels of one of the biggest days of my life. This morning the alarm went off at 4:18am as usual.  As usual I hit snooze until Karen said to me are you getting up to go swimming.  She had a...

Some of you who watch Cougar Town will remember the neti-pot episode.  Maybe you don't watch the show, neither do I, but maybe you read Allison's blog post about the neti-pot?  My wife is using the neti so much that she now refers to it as Ned.  So when I hear I have a date with Ned I don't even blink. Why is this coming up?  Well today I had a 3000y swim session planned.  I went to the gym and looked into the pool and it was empty.  Great sight considering the start of the new year.  I changed quickly and head...

If you read my post from January 1, 2011 you will remember the picture that showed a terrific skyline, the American flag and the words New Year, New Day, New You.  I am holding true to that theory as today was the dawn of a new day again.  The beauty of life is that there is always tomorrow and even when there isn't a tomorrow you life's work will live on with family and friends and thus allow them to savor in the memories of what you brought to life.As many of you know I have a small business called Marathon Makeover North Dallas and...
