Rebecca Korb – Bio

Rebecca with her medal after Vineman 70.3 2011

I started running in 2005 after I had had my second child as a means to lose weight.  A friend suggested I do a half marathon then maybe the LA Marathon in March 2007.  I was hooked. I did marathons for the next three years then got the bug to do triathlon. I had been a swimmer in high school so I felt pretty confident that I could handle triathlon. I did my first sprint and Olympic in the summer of 2010.  I signed up for two 70.3s for the following year with the ultimate goal of doing a full Ironman in 2012.  I had a very successful racing season in 2011.  I did 2 sub 6 hour 70.3s and qualified for Nationals for Olympic distance age group triathlon.

Right now I am working toward qualifying for Boston by the end of 2011, completing my first 50K run, and then training for Ironman St. George in 2012.  I do all of this while balancing a family with two young boys and working full time.
