30 DAYS OF GIVING THANKS
I am very far behind on this and believe I owe 9 days….I am so far behind I can’t find the last time I posted a thankful note.
Day 15 – My Best (WO) Man at my wedding – Jill
I am very thankful for having Jill in my life.  She is always encouraging and never lets me get to far away from my happy place.  Essentially centering me an provides another sounding board.
Day 16 – Sushi
I can’t say it enough but sushi is divine.  I can eat it by the truckload and it is so good.  I am thankful that it is more abundant in Texas than I thought it would be.
Day 17 – Travelling
I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to see some terrific places and come away from each of them with a life lesson.  Hawaii = take it slow and enjoy life.  New York = let’s get stuff done.  Boston = be friendly to all and show that old New England Charm.  This list can go on and on but I believe in taking in the local culture and becoming one of rather than a tourist when I visit.
Day 18 – Internet
The Internet is a wonderful thing.  If it weren’t for the Internet I would not have been able to read as many blogs as I have and gained all of the information I have.  We can couple this with SmartPhones….they are just an extension of my laptop and provide me with access to the world.
Day 19 – ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPN360, ESPN CLASSIC, ESPN U….all things ESPN
Yes, they are a monopoly and I believe in competition but this network satisfies my competitive edge.  During taper and rest days EPSN is my go to for quenching my thirst for competing.
Day 20 – My Kitchen
I love to cook.  It can be something simple or something difficult but being in my kitchen is like being in an oasis.  I am able to quiet my mind and think of nothing more than ‘how does this taste?’  Makes life easy and then when you hear your wife say….’Wow, this is so good’ and actually mean it makes it all the better.
Day 21 – Getting laid off
If it weren’t for my getting laid off I don’t know if I would have really started Marathon Makeover or really put myself out there to try and establish a business.  I do think this will be successful in the long run and the work it takes to get to that point is satisfying if not scary.
Day 22 – Running and Exercise
We all know the benefits on our physical and mental health, but my heart was satisfied through running.  It was through running that I first started talking to Karen and from there a love and relationship sprung and it has been the best thing that has happened to me.
Day 23 – My Therapist
I can’t imagine not talking to him.  Sometimes I just vent and rant and it feels good b/c it is another outlet to get things off my chest and a lot of times I find ways to improve myself.  I have a sounding board in Karen, and training is a great release but this is just another way for me to dig deeper in to the real Jason and find out what I’m made of.

  1. Jon says:

Nice list! You forgot ESPN 8, The Ocho. ;)

  2. Julie @ Hotlegs Runner says:

that's a nice pic of you and Karen =)

  3. Jen says:

Sushi ranks on my list too :)

  4. Lesley @ racingitoff.com says:

Sushi – have you been to the Asian Mint? Mmmmmmm… and their green tea cake after… divine. Reminds me that I have a coupon for a free dessert for my birthday… My husband hates sushi… so I'll have to barge in the next time you and Karen go! ;-)

  5. ONEHOURIRONMAN says:

Just watched "Up in the Air" with George Clooney last night. Getting laid off reminded me of a few lines in that movie where the "getting laid off" opened up new opportunities that wouldn't otherwise be pursued.
    Happy Tday.

  6. Kovas Palubinskas says:

Careful with that red bandana if you run the LA MArathon, the Crips might have something to say! :)

  7. Allison says:

SUSHI!!!!!!!!!!! Love sushi….could eat it EVERYDAY!!!

    Great pics :)

  8. Jason says:

Lesley/Allison – We need to setup another meetup then for Sushi Night in Dallas (Jen you will just have to fly here.)

Julie – Thank goodness we did not take one this year b/c before the ride started I dumped my bike and skinned my knee. 86 miles with a bloody, scrappy knee….AWESOME!!!!!

Jon – Don't forget ESPN Mobile as well. The Ocho had me laughing this morning on the dreadmill.

Bob – You are 100% correct b/c I would not have met all the wonderful people in this world if not for being laid off. I just don't think I would have put that much into my blog if I were working for the same company still.

Kovas – What happens if you were a red, white and blue bandana? Does that just confuse everybody?

  9. Big Daddy Diesel says:

Great post, I guess I am the weirdo, I dont like sushi

  10. lindsay says:

I love sushi, although I can't have anything too crazy as I am allergic to shellfish. And 2008 does not quite count as old school yet – you're not wearing anything completely dorky :)

  11. Emz says:

Love the photo of you and K. You'll need to post one with your "other" twin shirts. ;)

    YAY for sushi!!!
