What a great week this past week was. Training was spot on although one day I had physically crashed (more on that in a bit.) First group run for Marathon Makeover, Wedding Anniversary and a house showing.
What a great training week. It was last Sunday that I had a 3:00 trainer ride followed by a 30 minute run and both of those were preceeded by a 3200y swim. Needless to say Sunday was a long tiring day, but I loved it just the same.
Problem came on Monday when the body just did not want to perform. I forced myself out of bed and through the swim at which point I convinced myself to get home and take a nap for one hour otherwise the day would be pointless. The nap was my carrot and it proved to be the perfect elixir as after that 1 hour I was fully charged.
On Tuesday I was crushing my TTs. It felt so good to post 3 sub-7:00 miles with times of 6:58, 6:55 and 6:45. I was so fired up after that last mile I fist pumped jumped up and down and noticed traffic in front of me and laughed even harder.
Today I had another 3 hours bike ride with a 30 minute run and all that was proceeded by a 2350y swim. So in looking at my numbers from today compared to last Sunday and all disciplines were faster. So exciting.

Swim: 25,450 yards in 10:16:45 or a pace of 2:25/200y which includes rest time.
Bike: 298.3 miles in 17:42:45 or a pace of 16.84 mph (all but one ride on the trainer)
Run: 92.04 miles in 12:15:09 or a pace of 7:59/mile
Calories burned: 32,487
Swim: 8,300 yards in 3:16:44 or a pace of 2:22/200y which includes rest time
Bike: 100.99 miles in 6:00:09 or a pace of 16.82 mph (all on the trainer) — couldn’t find that .01 miles?
Run: 27.04 miles in 3:35:57 or a pace of 7:59/mile

Marathon Makeover – 1st Group Run
We had our first group run on Saturday morning and it was awesome. After watching a presentation on gear and the importance of shoes and socks plus all the fun stuff like nip guards, body glide, sports bras we set out to run/walk our first mile.
At the 0.5 mile marker one of the participants said ‘That was the fastest 1/2 mile ever’ I was so fired up and started high-fiving and cheering for everybody. I ran hard to get to the leaders and be at the Mile 1 marker to cheer everybody on when they got there. I high-fived each person and as the finsih line grew so did the cheers from the group and the high-fives were everywhere. It was really moving.
Yesterday Karen and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary and it was just a perfect day all around. We started with the group run and Karen was the anchor of the run, meaning that this was a no drop run and Karen worked with those in the back of the pack and I led the group. It was so much fun to be working as a team on something we are both so passionate about.
After that we went out on a run. Karen ran 10 miles and I ran 12 which totaled 22 and that just happens to be our wedding day. We didn’t plan it it just worked out that way. And while we didn’t run it together as soon as I saw here when she got to the car it was perfect. Just happy for her to put in 10.
Finished with the run and we went to go get our Anniversary gift. We got ourselves a lot of pyrex for food storage. Going to a more plant based diet and cooking just about everyday and there are leftovers all the time and I just about ripped the cabinets off the wall when I couldn’t find a lid for the 100th time. I had had enough and so we decided to get ourselves some pyrex. Great gift to ourselves.
Brunch was up next. We went tl LePeep which we go to just about every weekend. We had egg whites filled with spinach, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes and feta. I got fruit and Karen had rustic potatoes.
Then last night we decided on Sauce on the Square in McKinney, Texas. If you read the post from yesterday I mentioned us fighting about where to eat. Well, it kinda happened. Karen mentioned a seafood place in Plano, TX but I quickly shot it down and onto Sauce we went.
When we got there the place was packed and there was a 1h15m wait, but you could eat outside right away. It was chilly but we decided to eat outside. We started off with the best dish they serve which is polenta with mushrooms sauteed in a reduced balsamic vinegar syrup. We then split a salad that was HUGE. We finally had a green pizza for dinner. The base is pesto, and it has mushrooms, artichokes, and red onions. If that wasn’t enough they gave us a free dessert which wound up being espresso bread pudding and Mexican vanilla ice cream. We each had a glass of wine and man alive we were smiling from ear to ear.
An absolutely perfect day with the love of my life and no other person I would have rather shared that perfect day with.
Plus we had a showing today. We got rid of our last realtors and put the house on the market with a new realtor as of Friday and had a showing this afternoon.

And we are ending the weekend with some football on the couch and I am going to go cook up some football food that will be pita nachos, individual pita pizzas, and bean/cheese quesadillas. Maybe I’ll make some polenta with mushrooms and balsamic syrup as a surprise for Karen.
