When To Buy Fruits, Vegetables And Herbs

As I was perusing the multitude of sites regarding sh*t we should and shouldn’t be eating I came across a site that showcases when you should buy fruits, vegetables and herbs based on the calendar.  When these items are going to be freshest and most likely the cheapest too.

Thank you to Chasing Delicious for creating these produce calendars.  They are a tremendous resource for knowing what and when to buy and eat.  These will also help you develop your palette as you are not just buying the same products over and over again at the grocery store.

I sometimes get a weekly delivery from a local organic produce coop and I find that they kind of do this for me because you will only get items that in season locally, very helpful!

Paliside Peaches from Colorado are absolutely incredible …. and because of our drought, are already ripe. I can’t get enough of them….I wish they were around year-round instead of 2-3 weeks.

Growing up in the state of Washington on a fruit orchard, I was spoiled by having fresh fruit right off the tree. I remember going out to the orchard at various times of the year and picking, apricots, peaches, cherries, pears, golden delicious, and red apples. My grandparents also had a garden with all kinds of berries and vegetables. There is just something special about eating fresh fruits and vegetables.
