• Race Reports

Before I break down the segments of the race I want to first say Thank You to all of you for your well wishes leading up to race day, then during race day and all the congratulations after the race.  It means so much and truly helps to know that you are all there to support me. My biggest thanks goes to my wife, Karen, for her never ending support and selflessness to allow me to lead this lifestyle that finds me awake at 3am and training and then away for a few days to race.  She is always encouraging me and even suggests destinations for ...

  • Race Reports

I am reposting this race recap because tomorrow I will be racing the olympic distance again.  This time the race is in Austin and on a Monday.  It has been an odd weekend because the race is on Monday.  I had Saturday off as a rest day, instead of Friday, and to say I was not a happy camper is an under-statement.  I even took a nap to try to kill time.  I was on Twitter and seeing all these posts about racing and training and there I was a big bump on a log. This morning I got to go for a 30 minute ride and a 15 minute run.  Both had p...

If you don't know Colleen then I'm not sure you have spent more than 5 minutes on Twitter or the Blog World looking for awesomely cool triathlon athletes. She is always there with a joke and great laughs and she is an incredible triathlete.  I mean incredible.  She is part of the Trash Talk Thursday (Tuesday, Wednesday as well but we seem to take vacation on Friday to Monday) Crew on Twitter.  She is the one we call Elektra and she recently raced Rev3 Knoxville and this is her race report. By the way she also is a member of Team Trakkers ...

I have been thinking about this for quite some time.  I like to define myself and not let society do it for me.  Labels get placed everywhere and they are not always accurate.  We are all different in one way or another so why allow somebody else to define you. While thinking about this I started to think of how I would define myself as a triathlete and came up with a few funny items that I think help define who I am, and would like to have you add to the list of how you define yourself as a triathlete, marathoner, ultra-runner, 5k'er, ne...

  • Train

My cousin has this saying for me whenever we chat via Facebook.  It goes something like this:  I'll see you in Kona one day.  Is she right?  I have no idea.  I haven't even begun training for an Ironman as of yet.  I have put in my time to be good at the half-ironman and have 2 more scheduled between now and when I do plan on racing an Ironman.  I am going to race 70.3 Longhorn in October and 70.3 Puerto Rico in March.  This is all a lead up to Ironman Arizona. • Race Reports

This may be the best race report I ever write because it will be from the perspective of a volunteer and not that of the athlete going over the course, hydration/nutrition, PRs, etc. It was an epic weekend and let me say that if you have the chance to attend an Ironman race GO.  If you have the opportunity to volunteer DO IT.  It is like nothing you have ever seen, heard or felt before. Friday [caption id="attachment_2273" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Transition Area at Ironman Texas"][/caption] My Ironman Texas weekend ...

  • Race Reports

This race report is by one person I consider to be a good friend even if we have only known each other for a few months.  I met Greg via Twitter a few months ago and we met up at the Stonebridge Ranch Half-Marathon.  From that day we started training together and he truly helped push me to get faster in the water.  Now that we have both completed our first half-iron distance races we are looking to help each other to the 140.6 mile marker. I always enjoy our training sessions and the conversation.  He is a leader and a true inspiration a...

  • Athlete's Plate

We took off last week but we are back this week and as they say....better than ever.  This week's athlete was brought to my attention by one of my Charlie's Angels and that is KC of 140 Point 6 Miles...of Awesome! No, she is not the unabomber but is da bomb when it comes to keeping me on my toes.  My Wife (@theladybaha on Twitter), Coach C (@irunitri on Twitter) and KC keep me in line with my training, my eating, motivation and inspiration.  They say jump I jump then ask questions. So KC brought me an athlete that I had never hea...

[caption id="attachment_2208" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="No.....Not This Guy"][/caption] My social networking life has sort of taken on a life of it's own. I say this because I am now involved in The League of Extraordinary Tri-Geeks. What's this you may ask? Well it was started by Jon of SwiCycloRun and named by Jeff of Dangle The Carrot.  Kevin of Ironman By Thirty doesn't want to take any credit for anything but he put up the first post (to my knowledge) and I cannot stop laughing at it.  It is incredible how this has gro...

  • Product Reviews

Welcome to the first video review at Cook Train Eat Race.  I have decided to put this review into a video format.  While it is not perfect I chose to do it in only one take so that you get my true feelings toward Brad's Raw Chips.  There are a few slip ups in terms of words and pronunciation.  There is a time or two where I close my eyes instead of keeping them open for the camera but being that this is my first video I will take it and hopefully get better each and every time. Watch the video and then enter to win a prize pack worth mor...
