Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference - June 24-26, 2011

As I mentioned in my post regarding a Day in the life of CTER I am headed to Boulder, Colorado in June for the Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference.  I was prompted to sign up for this by the mention of scholarships by Beth of Shut Up And Run.  I submitted my site for a scholarship and won so off to Boulder I will be going. What is this conference you may ask?  Well, after I submitted my application I asked the same question.  Talk about putting the cart before the horse.  Well a click here and a click there I found out that it is a conference for fitness and health bloggers, industry professionals, and social media professionals who will gather from throughout North America to meet, learn, and share. Sounded perfect for me as I work for a company called Fun City Social Media, I am a fitness and health blogger, I am 'professional' and I live in North America.  While it is not L.I.M.B. is it not the realtor site but Meet, Learn and Share. I am excited to be attending this conference as I will have the opportunity to learn how well video works in a blog/site.  How can I monetize my blog without it becoming a living/breathing billboard (to date I have rejected more sponsor offers than accepted because I want to keep it clean.)  How does Search Engine Optimization work for blogs?  Finding inspiration for the next post.  There are great topics of discussion and just being around other healthy and fit people will prompt inspiration as well. I have attended conferences in the past for work and it has been an ordeal.  Walk around and pick up as much free stuff as possible, learn nothing, pass out cards and move on.  This one feels different already.  There will be lots of learning and note taking.  I truly enjoy writing and being creative here, but I always feel as if there is so much more I can do.  I am hoping this conference proves that there is so that I can continue to get better at writing, being creative and keeping readers coming back for more. Did I mention it's in Boulder?  Could there be a better place to go for a conference?  I mean I will be 10 minutes away from Beth and hanging out with her most of the weekend which is just incredible for me.  As those who have been with me for a while know I want to meet and greet all of you and this is just another step in that direction.

Have you heard of the Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference?  Have you ever been?  What can I expect?  Are you going this year?

I grew up in New York and lived there for 34 years until I got divorced and moved 1600 miles to my new home in Texas.  I love New York and miss it but that does not mean that Texas hasn’t been great to me because it has.  It was here that I discovered endurance sports and specifically the sport of triathlon.  Triathlon has given me new life through all the challenges it presents.  I no longer look at life the same way and I can say that is in part due to my endeavor into this sport.
